What is so special about Valletta Malta? Well it is one of the most beautiful ports which we were lucky enough to visit. It has the castle which was refurbished for Mussolini during WWII.
City is in 2 parts; the old city is walled and on the coast and next to it is the new modern city. We concentrated on the old part with is castle and sites.
The center of the old city has a magnificent Catholic church where there a WWII bomb came through the dome and remained exploded. It was successfully removed and repaired and a beautiful sanctuary remains.
This quaint city can be toured by motor coach or by it’s own “rail system”.
For those shoppers among us, Malta has a glass blowing factory with unique gift opportunities along with watching craftsman work, and is known for filigree jewelry. Both of these crafts are located in the Handicraft village.
To visit a very unique friendly city Malta should be on your radar.
